HAPPY ACCIDENTS: ARE YOU MISSING THE INVITATION?

Hello and welcome back!  Are you finding flow in the rhythm of Summer?  I hope so.  Getting outside more often this time of year always helps me practice presence with the season, experiencing it through all the senses.  Summer just has a way about her, don’t miss it.  Get outside!

As we enter a new month, I invite you to look for what I call happy accidents.  Let me explain.  On a call with a client last week, she shared her experience with an unexpected change in her schedule for the week.  She is a high performer, someone who is incredibly disciplined and consistently reaches the goals she sets out to achieve because of her scheduled daily habits.  So being out of routine is uncomfortable and a challenge for her.  For some of us, predictability in routine brings comfort.  And, too much of a good thing like comfort can also result in the staleness of sameness, a limited perspective of what is possible.  The incredible genius of her awareness led her to a powerful breakthrough and shift in experience.  Embracing the discomfort, she questioned the story she was telling herself about what she “should” be doing and when she “should” be doing it.  Her courage to challenge the rules she has for her life and business led her to a week infused (and prioritized) with things she loves most like early morning hikes.  An inconvenient and unexpected situation allowed her to discover this happy accident.  SO inspiring!  When we are living a life prioritized with the people and things that bring us joy and energy, it fuels and fills us up, we have more to give.  She's now on a mission to continue looking for these happy accidents each week, a reason to change things up!

Since then, I’ve been reflecting on a few questions and I invite you to join me in doing the same.

Where can I experience more flexibility in my business and life?

What story or rule might be getting in the way of me discovering presence and depth of being in this season?  (Look at your “should” list!).

Ask yourself, what else could be possible here?

This week, when the unexpected shows up and things don’t go according to plan, look for the invitation, the happy accident.  When we expand our perspective, we see what is possible.  We catch rhythm in a fresh and new way.  We are better able to be present and experience joy on the path, now, in this moment, before we get to wherever we are going.  Take care of you and as always, stay open, brave, and on-purpose.
